…September is just about booked.  My next weekends available are 11/4 and 11/5.  If you are having a baby, plan accordingly.  I do have some other times left in Sept. and Oct.  I’m planning something different and cute for fall on, Saturday Oct. 21st, call me for details.

My current and past customers will be receiving something in the mail or by e-mail about my Christmas sessions.  Drop me an e-mail if you think I may not have your e-mail address or leave a message at the Gallery and I’ll jot it down.  I’m planning on having everyone’s cards back by Thanksgiving!…Did I just say that?  I must be crazy.  Like I said, "planning on"…  Anyway, I’ll send you the details!

    Mandy Stumbo - Suzanne,
Can’t wait for the Christmas pictures!!! Make sure you let me know!!!
    Mandy

Most of my clients comment that I must get great images of my own kids…well, I’ll tell you, I’m in the same boat as many…they don’t listen to a word I say.  You should see me try to get the great Christmas card picture.  It takes an entire day and I most always end up mad.

Anyway, BEACH PICTURES are every mommy’s dream of course, so this summer I packed up all my cute "white" clothes for Zane (3) and McKenna (7).  The first day we got there Zane put on his Superman costume and never took it off again…No, I’m not kidding…100 degrees, sand, wind, he didn’t care.  He literally would not take it off…therefore, my beach pictures had to take a different route.

Now this is the chicken or the egg part…which comes first?…the inspiration for the picture, or the picture then the inspiration.

For Zane I had the idea for the birds to be over his head at Sunset as soon as I saw him in the costume on day one…I laid on the beach all week and thought, "How can I get those silly birds over his head?"  So, one the last day I finally got my camera out and went to work.  My cousin Courtney stood right beside Zane and threw up hotdog buns until the birds came running and I started snapping away.  There are so many cute ones, however, this is my favorite…you can see why…my baby beside the ocean, his only dream to learn to fly…View this photo

    Becki - Suzanne,
That is the most beautiful and innocent scene I have ever saw. You work magic. Be good Girl!!

Did you teach yourself photography?

I taught myself lighting by trial and error!  And spent lots and lots of money.  I do now belong to numerous organizations that help me stay educated like PPA and several professional photography forums.

I’ve had the opportunity to travel to Philadelphia, Las Vegas and local places in Kentucky to seminars and conventions to keep up with the latest gadgets, trends, and cool stuff to offer my clients!

I’ll be in Chicago at the end of October to learn from my all-time favorite photographer…Audrey Woulard.  I’ve been admiring her work for years!

What camera equiptment do you use?

Canon all the way baby!  I should get some kind of kick-back.  I’ve sent more people to buy Canon than stars in the sky…I use a 5-D SLR and various lenses and flash.

How do you get those great eyes?  How can I get great "eye shots" like that?

Make an appointment…duh!

Favorite way to get a kid to smile?

~Smile myself…

Favorite age to photograph?

However old YOU are.

Biggest Challenge?

juggling it ALL!

Your card?

American Express…no just kidding…just thought I’d throw that in…I always look at those ads in magazines and laugh because you know good and well Kate Winslet isn’t having to use a credit card to go shopping!

Biggest accomplishment?

My kids.

Lenon - I want to tell you how happy I am that you have finally joined the rest of the blogging world. I will make it a point to visit weekly.
The session we did last week was unlike any other. I have three children and we have tried numerous photographers over the years, and I can honestly say that the experience with you was unlike any other. My kids loved you! You made them feel like movie stars. They are already asking when we can do it again, and they are only in preschool!!!
It thrills me to no end to see someone–specifically a woman from eastern Kentucky–find success in such a small town. Because I live in a larger city, I am often ridiculed for my southern accent and my heritage mocked. Imagine my exitement when I show my pictures to my yankee collegues! We will drive three hours to see you anytime!!!! Thank you so much for capturing my children in their most tender years. These pictures will be cherished for a lifetime.

I just want to say that I’m lOVING having this business out of my house!  It’s so nice to be a little more organized, plus have my family and business life separate.  I want to thank all of my customers for telling me countless times that they didn’t mind coming into my home for proofing…ordering…delivering…but I always felt I cheated them of the "experience" I can now provide!

Hope you enjoy visiting the new Gallery and Studio…446 Main Street, Hazard.

Hey everybody.  I’m jumping on the blogging bandwagon finally.  It has become especially popular among professional photographers, so I decided to make the leap…or dive in head first…like I do most of the time.

Bits-N-Pieces will be a way for my customers to get a glimpse of "behind the scenes" things concerning my photography and a few other things as well.

A bit about myself…

Being a mom and wife is my life…photography is my passion.

My head is constantly spinning with new ideas and I keep my friends and family’s heads spinning as well bouncing my ideas off their heads…

I’m pretty laid back unless I get behind on work…which is everyday.

I have so many ideas about photography I will never live long enough to implement them all.

Oh, and I can’t spell…that part of my brain is constantly taking pictures.
