Yesterday we found out that our little dog Oscar was killed by a car.  He was a Cairn terrier who we loved very much…We still have no idea how he got out of our yard that has a chain link fence around it!!  Our hearts are heavy today.

Oscar Deaton…born October 24th, 2005, died September 21st, 2006.

He is survived by his loving family: Keith, Suzanne, McKenna & Zane, and his canine companion Sassy Deaton.  His burial took place on Thursday, September 21st in the backyard of the Deaton home.  He was laid to rest in his favorite digging spot.  In Memorium, his collar hangs by his grave.

Of course, all dogs go to heaven, so our prayers for Oscar are:  May you be in heaven now, chasing cats, eating bones, chewing up furniture, barking, and waiting on us to join you someday…we love you…the Deatons.

    Mandy Stumbo - Suzanne,
This was the cutest dog ever. The news is so sad. I always enjoyed seeing it when I came to your house.

tricia - This made me cry. I know how hard it is to lose your furry friend. Sorry for your loss…

We had a great time this past weekend downtown Hazard!  I had a bunch of little girls walk through the parade with me.  They passed out candy and water.  I think they may have even given out a few water bottles that were ALREADY DRUNK OUT OF…thanks to my own 3 year old son!!!!!!!!

Anyway, thanks to everyone who made it all possible.  The girls were adorable.  I will post some pictures by the end of the week.

Just to answer a few questions that people have been thrown at me…No, the festival committee did not tell me I couldn’t have a booth.  I just did not see the point in having a booth when I have my studio right on mainstreet!  Hauling it all out on the street seemed like a hassle.  Plus, last year I sat down there for 4 days and was already booked until January.  How inconsiderate of me to put my business on display and then say, "Sorry…nothing available."  Not to mention that I have 2 small kids that didn’t have a mommy for 4 days.  So this year we simply enjoyed the festival…the food, the friends, the crafts, the rides, and our community.

I don’t have many pictures of McKenna on my website because…Frankly…she NEVER lets me take her picture, and when she does it always ends in a fight.  But, this session was different, she PRETENDED like she was a customer!  Imagine that!  She’s seen me do enough sessions so she thinks she knows everything, so this put a different spin on it for her. Maybe she’s more mature too.  She’s really not a baby anymore…obviously.  She is so precious to me. To live with her is a hoot!  She keeps us rolling on the floor!  After we left the session my mom looked at her and said, "I have the prettiest grandchildren around," and to that McKenna replied, "Oh, I know Nana, I LOVE myself"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is Madison.  She was the first person I ever put on my first business card.  She was so little then.  She’s gotten taller and more "little girl" looking.  This session was a combination of family and just pictures of her.  She really turned on at the end and these are my favorite times to photograph.  I wish we could have found a little frog…he missed  out being kissed by her and turned into her prince.

Thanks for looking!!!!   More to come soon I promise!

I was very honored when the Hazard Herald newspaper called and asked me to submit a picture for the COVER of a new magazine they are publishing for tourism in Hazard and the surrounding Perry County area!!!!!!!!!!!  I tried to tell them that I don’t really have any pictures of the beautiful landscapes that surround Perry County.  My great friend Kenny Dunn has some of the most beautiful pictures in the WORLD of nature.  I steered them towards his website which is www.southernaccentphotography.com  Anyway, I told them I’m a "people" photographer…but then I remembered I’d been to Buckhorn Lake for a session and I did have a few that would show off the lake in the background.  This is what they chose…

By the way…this would be a good time to give Kenny Dunn some praise.  He is a photographer in Hazard who e-mailed me almost 3 years ago and REALLY encouraged me in this business.  He is the FIRST person I call when something goes wrong technically…the digital world can be sooooo technical…he has loaned me his backup camera before, his printer, his memory cards, etc…anyway, just a thank-you incase you are looking…how nice to have some great support so close to home!
